Earlier this year, Compassion International launched an effort to facilitate charitable giving to its organization through unused gift cards. The effort is made possible through a new CardFunder initiative, which helps people and businesses convert unspent gift card balances into donations that charitable organizations can use.

Research shows that gift cards are among the most asked-for gifts by individuals, but there are instances when those cards aren’t used. A recent survey revealed that as many half of the current consumer population have gift cards with unused balances on them. Through the CardFunder program, people can now go online and donate those balances to Compassion.
